The Moiseyev Dance Company, Russia's most traveled troupe, has broken box office records in more than 50 countries. Trained in classical ballet, folk dancing and acrobatics, their repertoire includes dances from all of the former Soviet regions as well as from Poland, Mexico and Japan. The company's creator, Igor Moiseyev, a distinquished choreographer, ballet master and leading dancer at the Bolshoi Ballet set his sights on establishing a state ensemble of folk dancing. My dancers, Moiseyev says, should not only have unusual stamina, but the daring of an acrobat, the skill of a juggler, the speed of a fencer and know how to act as well.
