he appointment of successful dancer and choreographer Nacho Duato as artistic director of the Compaňia Nacional de Danza in 1990, marked an innovative departure in the history of this Spanish dance company. The declared aim of those responsible was to create an independent national ballet company. The Compaňia Nacional de Danza's trademark is its great openness for new trends and developments in the contemporary dance scene. Within a short period Nacho Duato succeeded in winning international recognition for Spanish dance. The fusion of classical techniques with the work of important modern choreographers made the ensemble well known. Its style is still largely informed by contents integral to Spanish dance. On this DVD there are three works by Nacho Duato, with a brief introduction and comments by him.
